Parents: James Albert and Elizabeth A. (Alf) Daves. B.S. in Education from Texas Tech University in 1977. M.S. in Human Development from University of Texas, Dallas, 1991. 60 hours in Art and Art History at Richland College and Southern Methodist University, Dallas. Advisory board the board of directors Herrin House, 1991-2000 Who’s Who of American Women, 1999-2000. Listed Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, 1999-2000, 26th Edition. Artist: Betsy Daves Bass Title: Steel Doll Size approximately 84”x48”x¼” Large Media Steel Price $4000 The idea that spawned the creation of steel dolls was the concept of paper dolls. My first sculpture as a child was the making of dolls from deodorant bottles. I have been fascinated by and have collect dolls. Title: Carrot Size approximately 84”x36”x 1/8” Media Steel Price $3500 The concept behind the steel vegetables came from a restaurant’s planters. I enlarged them and had them laser out from 1/8” steel. This is the beginning of food cut outs. Title: Eccentric Elephant Size 56”x64”x24” Media Bronze Price $5500 The impetus of the elephant is a love of animals and sculptures, especially bronze sculpture. These two were instrumental in creating this piece of work. Artist Statement For me, to create is life. To have a sense of well being, I must be in the process of creating. We are all in that process. The two constants in my life have been my God and my art. It’s God that gives me my art and I give my art back to God and give back to God my art. |
